NEW ORLEAN, LOUISIANA – We have arrived in New Orleans
safely despite truly blinding rainfall. One of us is a great driver. The dogs
are happily ensconced in Camp Bow Wow.
We have not been here for 43 years, so we assume everyone
with a pulse knows more about the Big Easy than we. We are therefore going to
go blog silent or at least blog lite, for a few days, unless there is something
unusual to note, like the young lady who presented herself to us this afternoon
on Bourbon Street with far more exposed than the recent Playboy covergirl. Sorry, no photo.
If you want a po’ boy at Acme’s, go at 5 p.m. not 6. We were
seated quickly when we arrived early because we had no lunch, but the line to
get in went around the block when we left.
We shared a dozen “roasted oysters” which brought oysters
together with an amazing amount of butter, garlic and cheese, so we cancelled
part of our order and focused in on splitting the po’ boy, a delicious sandwich
of fried oysters and shrimp.
A couple came to sit next to us. The male of the species had
a shirt that said, not “Down Around Biloxi” or “Come Monday,” but another
Buffett song, “The weather is here, wish you were beautiful,” which, if not so
complimentary to his female companion, was at least accurate regarding the weather!
Maybe there is more to report than we imagined. We’ll see!
